Our Team

Aaron Herman, LCPCApplaud yourself for making it this far! Seems you are interested in speaking with a counselor, allow me to help make that decision a touch easier. I’m Aaron Herman, founder of Baltimore Men’s Counseling (BMC) and practicing counselor. I oversee growth and development of my practice, however my true passion is attending to the growth and development of my community as a whole. Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of experience in all levels of behavioral healthcare, all of which have helped shape me to be the man I am today. It’s no secret that men and mental health aren’t often perceived in the most positive of lights, and my mission is to shift that narrative through advocacy and openness. There’s a crass saying about people who pursue careers in mental health: “You don’t want to be a therapist, you just need therapy”. Through my personal experiences of devastating family trauma at a young age, I’ve learned that both of these can be true. As a result of my own personal therapy, I’ve learned firsthand the value of compassion, reflection, hope, and patience. If you’re still reading this, there’s a good chance you might see the value in these things as well. In my personal time, I enjoy weightlifting, cooking, traveling, Sunday Night Football, and a cold beer.

Taking care of our health can feel challenging and overwhelming, and it can be all too easy to minimize or ignore our mental health and wellness, or to believe that things can’t get better. The reality, however, is that things can get better, and we all deserve the opportunity to live a happier and more fulfilling life, in which we are able to work towards becoming our best selves. Dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, and ADHD can seem overwhelming, but with the right support and the right tools, we can work through the challenges that hold us back, and work towards greater wholeness and success. I myself know the frustrations and pain that can come from undiagnosed and untreated mental health issues, and I also know how finding the right tools and the right support can be life changing, helping us to once again believe in ourselves and to believe in our full potential. My areas of clinical focus include depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, grief, healthy masculinities, and LGBTQ issues, and I utilize an integrative treatment approach that combines aspects of cognitive-behavioral and emotionally-focused therapy based in a strengths-based, humanistic and multicultural foundation. Take the chance on reaching out to address your mental health and wellness—I promise that you are worth it, and that you deserve it.

In my free time, I love traveling, music, baseball (go O’s!), bowling, and reading.  I am also an intermediate level speaker of Portuguese, and I have a pet guinea pig named Clover who loves to eat.

Putting yourself first can be one of the most difficult things one can do. If you have found yourself here, that means you have made a decision to invest in your well-being as a whole; mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Facing struggles in life can be scary for everyone! If you are already pre-disposed to underlying anxiety or trauma, life transitions or any other type of change can feel all the more frightening. I believe that with the right tools and a deeper understanding of oneself, we can all move through life with more compassion for ourselves and others. My areas of clinical focus include anxiety, trauma/PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, LGBTQ issues, and life transitions. My approach to therapy is a humanistic one. This means I am focused on your self-discovery, your happiness, and overall success in however that is defined for you. I truly believe that we are all deserving of the opportunity to be the best versions of ourselves.

A little bit about me; I love music, singing, photography, and traveling. I am also a big foodie and I have a pet cat named Charlie.
